Credit vs. Debit ?
I had to cancel my credit card the other day. I used it on a stop on our vacation then couldnt find it. I feared what could happen if that credit card got in the wrong hands! Ended up Missy had it in her shorts? Sooooo, anyway I had to use my debit card. It works pretty much the same, except it takes money right out of my bank account, instead of being something I have to pay back, as soon as the transaction is done, I wont be getting a bill later.
O.k. ….So what? I am reading Romans 4:3 What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. 4Now when a man works, his wages are not credited to him as a gift, but as an obligation. 5However, to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.”
God’s righteous credit, is not a matter of something we work for, but it is credited to us as a gift. See if it was something we could work for then righteousness would be something we earned. No one earns righteousness, it is actually the opposite if you look at verse 5. God justifies the wicked! Wicked people who believe in what Jesus Christ did on the cross to earn thier righteousness, end up getting God’s credit/debit card!
The awesome thing about God’s credit is that it is actually a debit, every time we sin, it comes out of God’s bank account. Every time we sin, it cost God. Not money, blood, His blood for our righteousness. Wicked people who have made so many bad charges on God’s account. It doesnt sound right. You know why, because so many people act like they know God, they say they believe, but they charge sin all day long, they spend like Paris Hilton and think they have plenty of money in thier account.
There was a man that got a $23 Quadrillion credit card bill I am sure he was surprised and of course it was a mistake. But many people will be surprised at the end when they thought they were charging God’s credit card and they get the bill! They will be getting the wages for their sins - death.
You ready for some good news. If you are God’s child, you have a debit card, we dont waste and squander Jesus blood, we cherish it, we repent of sin. We still sin, but it has been paid for already. I like God’s credit/debit card. So glad I wont have to pay for my own sins later. It’s the benefit of having generous and loving father. Thanks Dad.
