Post with 1 note
I have been doing my devotions in 1 Peter lately, so I got to this verse -1 Pet. 3:12 “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer.” It made me start to think of what that meant. I thought about the Lord’s eyes on my watching me and how that should affect me. Here are my thoughts -
If I you are righteous person - God is watching out for you. He sees where you are headed before you get there. But He always knows that anyway right? I think it means He is going to warn us when danger is near. Like because of the way we are living God doesnt let us fall into unecassary dangers. He is protecting us from things we cannot see, He is watching over us! And for me that should make me confident and give me peace, as I walk in the way He has called me to walk. In a manner worthy of His calling, in Grace, following Jesus. God is watching out for me!
But there is more, God enjoys watching you, as you do acts of good that He has planned out for you to do. As you do the things you have learned in His word and you love Him with all that you are, as you love others as much as you love yourself, God enjoys watching you. I think of Job 1 “Have you considered myservant Job, that there is none like him on the earth,a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?” God was like man if you have not seen Job, you need to check him out! He loves me, He is a righteous man, this guy is a joy to me. But Satan threw up the “yeah because you are watching out for him!” It was true God was watching out for Job and He is watching out for us too. And as we live out true lives that show we know Him, He enjoys watching us! But think of the alternative, I mean if Satan came to God and brought you up to Him, Hey what about “John” over there Lord? Oh, John he is doing his own thing right now, and he is headed for danger, but I am not going to stop him. He knows what you are doing, but his eyes are not on you the same way. You are walking away and there is no protection from God there and it is not a delight as he watches you. He loves you, but you are not filled with and controlled by the Spirit, so there are consequences.
Finally - God is watching you, because He is interested in you and what you are doing. Some ladies don’t like football, they are not interested. My question for you is, - Is God interested in the things you are doing? Are they the same interests that He has? I heard John Piper said “God is not going to ask if you got a good tan!” Things that dont have eternal significance are not that interesting to God. Especially if He is not considered and put into the center of it. It tells me that I need to make the most of my days. To finish the work He gave me to do. Because my Father is Watching! And I love Him and want to live righteous because I love having a close relationship with Him. Please keep watching me Dad.
